Hard water problems are quite common. These arise in different regions where the concentration of minerals dissolved in water are higher. These minerals include calcium, manganese, iron, and magnesium which can cause different problems not only for your skin and hair but also your utensils, clothes and appliances. Hard water issues are faced by several regions with the issue being moderate to severe. What are the signs that you have hard water in your home?
Skin irritation, hair fall issues, stains etc are some of the common problems. There are plenty of other issues too that are caused due to hard water.
· Soap scum build-up can be an issue with your bathtub or shower having it due to the reaction of calcium present in the soap.
· Your sink could be left with brown or reddish stains. Same is the case with your shower and toilets due to high amounts of iron content.
· Soap does not lather easily and hence more soap is required while having a bath. Same is the case when you are doing the laundry or dishes.
· Your cutlery and dishes do not come out squeaky clean like these should. There are spots or cloudiness on the glassware or dishes even after being washed in the dishwasher.
· The scum build-up leads to inefficiency of appliances.
· Hair fall is common and apart from that is the tangling of dry hair which again requires more shampoo and conditioner for a thorough clean up.
· Tap water at times could have a foul odour.
· And the worst of all is the taste of the water. Imagine gulping down a glass of badly tasting water after a hard day at work.
The appearance of hard water deposits changes and depends a lot on the minerals that are present. High calcium concentration for instance may leave a white residue that is often visible on metal surfaces such as faucets and showerheads or appliances and fixtures as well. Manganese leaves behind brown or black stains. Iron causes orange or reddish stains. Now although these stains may not be permanent, and can be cleaned with vinegar or any other specific cleansers it is a tedious task. The easiest way to solve the issue is by installing a water softener.
